Securing our urban campus
McGillis is nestled within the Douglas Neighborhood near downtown Salt Lake City. Our urban campus gives students access to the foothills, downtown, college campuses, city parks, and cultural landmarks. With that proximity also comes exposure to the unpredictable nature of a city environment.
Student safety has always been a top priority for the School, but today’s world demands that we do more to provide protected spaces for our entire kehilah (community). We must enhance the safety and security measures already in place and provide additional upgrades for the benefit of all Magpies.
Your investment will improve safety and security by adding the following features:
We will build a perimeter fence around the School's property to fully enclose and protect our outdoor learning and play spaces.
We will redesign our drop-off/pick-up loop in the Main Building parking lot to expand the sidewalks and curb for increased student safety and access to vehicles.
We will relocate bike parking toward the interior of the property, away from 1300 East.
We will redesign our North Entrance to create a welcoming new entryway that offers all people equitable access to our Main Building.
